At the San Mateo County Transit District in the digital communications department, I got to apply a mix of my skills and interests in research, design and development to craft user experiences from wireframes to web pages and most notably wrote the scope of work for a request for proposal for the re-design and development of the Caltrain, SamTrans and SMCTD websites.
I designed and developed a website feedback survey using Survey Gizmo for www.caltrain.com to determine short term and long term improvements for users.
I read research reports, analyzed Google Analytics, conducted comparative analysis, which included interviews with other transit agencies, in order to write the scope of work for an RFP to re-design the agency websites which has since been used to re-design and develop the new websites. The RFP defined key requirements to address very important deficiencies such as responsiveness, security, accessibility to bring the sites up to compliance and modern standards.
I've designed and developed web experiences for our seniors, veterans and shuttle pages from concept of wireframes and content strategy into interactive web pages. That included UI components for re-use across these web pages such as accordions, pop up modals, tables and forms.
One of the main pain points determined from my website feedback survey was that users have difficulty reading the Caltrain weekday timetable, particularly on a mobile device. Using open source datatables, I developed a prototype for a device friendly view of the weekday timetables which I conducted usability testing on.
